Biography

James Ransone (b. 1979, Baltimore, Maryland) is an American actor. He is best known for roles on HBO series The Wire and Generation Kill. At the age of 40, he has been in more than fifty feature films. As a teenager Ransone studied fine art at Carver Center for Arts and Technology and went on to attend the School of Visual Arts to study filmmaking. Failing out after his freshman year, he worked for famed nightlife photographer Patrick McMullan while splitting his time playing in various punk bands throughout New York city in the early 2000’s. He nearly destroyed his life with heroin, but got clean in 2006. He has an upcoming solo gallery show of paintings and drawings in 2020. Known to his friends as P.J., he lives in Los angeles with his wife and son.
